In anticipation of the huge ratings that the Olympics will get, both Presidential candidates, Senator Obama and Senator McCain are spending large amounts on their ads during this special opportunity. As the world prepares to see what America has to offer, let’s take a look at what those who compete to run the free world have to say on literally the worlds biggest stage.
First, let’s view Senator Obama’s ad.
Seems pretty postive, doesn’t it? Senator Obama has released an extensive plan that details his plans to help gain energy stability, improve the economy, and strengthen the American dollar. He hasn’t supported any pointless gimmicks, but he has said he would be willing to compromise on a bi-partisan bill if he needed to.
Here is John McCain’s ad.
This ad comically comes from a man who said that “America deserves an honest campaign.” First of all the commercial begins with the pot calling the kettle black as McCain calls Obama the celebrity. Next, it claims several points all of which were incorrect.
First, the ad claims that Obama voted to raise taxes on people who make only $32,000 a year. It isn’t true, according to FactCheck.org who showed that the bill in question didn’t even pertain to raising or lowering taxes.
The next claim is that he’ll tax small businesses, which is also false. His tax plan is targeted to be an increase only on individuals who make more than $250,000 a year. Small businesses aren’t even a target.
Senior citizens, according to this McCain approved message, are a target of Senator Obama’s. Unfortunately, Obama has no taxes for seniors. None. Next come the ridiculous attacks about taxing your family and your life savings, as if those things were taxable.
Most importantly, none of these false accusations have anything to do with Senator McCain or any of the issues that are most important to American voters. It is a dishonest and misleading attack that only serves to divide America and confuse voters.
Our media fails to point this out, however, and in a selfish push to generate news where there really isn’t a story, they stretch this into a discussion of whether or not this attack “worked” for McCain instead of condemning it as the baseless slander that it is.

I can’t wait for the debates to begin. I am really looking forward to McCain being made to answer for these types of unfounded attacks.
