John McCain the War Man

The Iraq war was a tradgedy, will we elect a repeat tradgedy?

The Iraq war was a tragedy, will we elect a repeat tradgedy?

I want to write today about war. It’s been said by an American war hero of World War II, “People who think that I was heroic that day don’t understand war. War is ugly and terrible. People do what they need to do to survive, but it isn’t heroic. There’s nothing worse.”

Much of our attention has been distracted from the deadly conflict in Iraq due to the recent downturn in our economy. It’s true, we are paying more for gas than we ever have before. Jobs are going overseas. We have problems that are not imagined– no doubt. But our financial problems, real and painful as they are, are nothing compared to the deaths of thousands of our soldiers.

Think of someone you know who has left this world. Think of how you felt at that time. Remember how that affected your family. Take a moment to realize the tragedy of the loss of just one sacred human life. Now imagine that happening 4,500 times in America, and at least 100,000 times to Iraqi families. It is the definition of tragedy, and it happened because liars in Washington fabricated evidence and lied to us. Indisputably, we went to Iraq for a lie.

Recently I heard something terrible. I heard an American say with a straight face that the warin Iraq worked. He said that Bush tunred out to be right in the end. And that simply cannot be. President Bush, along with the other men and women responsible for literally making up reasons to go into Iraq should never be given credit for things “working.” Tell the parents of the 4,500 dead Americans that they shouldn’t be sad: the war, which was started to protect America from WMD’s that those who started the war knew never existed, worked.

Those responsible for manufacturing the war in Iraq, for whatever reasons they did it, are liars. They are liars and murderers and should not only not get any respect from any free person, but they should also be held accountable for the crimes that they committed.

Now, a man who’s answer to all problems is to use deadly force is running for President. He has no actual military leadership experience, and has a 100% losing military record. This man, Senator McCain has a notoriously hot-head. He is poorly educated. He is already disliked by Russia because of his complete lack of diplomacy. And we are seriously considering giving him the key to nuclear weapons.

He has promised us that we will be at war during his Presidency. He has asked that we serve in the military for the wars he has scheduled for the rest of the century. He has sung about bombing Iran. He has promised that thing most grotesque in human life over and over again, war. He is undeniably unfit for President. You owe it to your children and to everyone selfless enough to enroll in the military for their country to not vote for John McCain.

Please watch this video. It is quite powerful and shows the seriousness of the consequences that would follow from re-electing a war-monger like John McCain.

  1. 80cent…This was brilliant. Maybe your best piece yet. We really cannot afford to elect someone who is caviler about the loss of life American’s and Iraqis are facing. It is a solemn thing, anyone who acts otherwise is simply unfit to make decisions affecting those lives.
