As the election season winds down, I am nearing a state of burning out. It has been a long and repetitive campaign, and I could easily hold a debate arguing either camps talking points.
While I believe the race is over, some are making the argument that America is stupid because it chose senator Obama for its next President. They argue against his spending choices, his foreign policy, and domestic choices as being against what mainstream America wants.
Here’s an update: America has more Democrats than Republicans. While I am against having political parties, I do think it’s ignorant to say that Senator Obama is not mainstream when it is your own views are not in line with mainstream America.
I’ll try not be long winded about this, but Senator Obama is the smart choice. He’s indisputably more intelligent than Senator McCain; I hope that’s not a fact that any thinking person would want to dispute. But I want to provide a document to back my point up.
Every single Nobel prize nominee officially endorsed Barack Obama. All of them. The best minds in the world have endorsed one of our candidates. While we should of course still take a look for ourselves, this late in the election process, this document should be a substantial indicator. When the smartest people on our planet all agree on something, it’s worth your time to take a look. Please read their short letter here.
Some people might resist this. They might say that the Nobel committee is “in the tank,” just as the McCain campaign has said of Newsweek, Time, The New York Times, NBC, ABC, and any other reputable organization that does not support his campaign, or any group that reports that he’s lying when he lies. He even called out William Krystal, who is more like a campaign adviser than a member of the media.
So keep your conspiracy theories to yourself and realize that the only people who are still openly endorsing McCain are a few Republican officials, rich athletes, and toxic sewage drippings like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Oh, and Elizabeth Hasslebeck.

I am with you on the burn out 80cent. I’ve been following this election with interest since the beginning of the primary season which was, if you can believe it, nearly 2 years ago. It has been mind-blowingly exhausting. I think my brain has had about all it can take. I’ve been an Obama supporter since the beginning of the primaries and last night I was yelling at the television when he talked. There doesn’t seem to be anything new left to say. He would just repeat the talking points that he’s been saying for 2 years now. As much as I agree with what he was actually saying, it was just tiring not to hear anything new. Both sides are equally guilty, in fact all (good) politicians are guilty of this.
I guess we’ll just have to elect one of them and then we can go on with living our lives.
I would like to point out though that if the American people honestly elect Senator McCain then the Democratic party should just give up. Forever. They should never field another presidential candidate. If they can’t get someone elected to the highest office after 8 years of a president who is less popular than Nixon during Watergate then they should just quit forever and tell the Republicans that they can appoint whoever they want.

You make a really good point. I think the most depressing and disheartening thing I’ve learned during this debate is just how divided America is. Left and right, red and blue, liberal and conservative.
There is so much in this country that is fueled by hatred and fear, and it’s the ugliest it’s been this generation right now.
